http://www.droid-life.com/2012/05/21/galaxy-nexus-4-0-4-update-arriving-may-22/

Could this be the week? According to a handful of readers who either called into Verizon support within the last few days or entered a store looking for help, the Galaxy Nexus is scheduled to receive Android 4.0.4 tomorrow, May 22. One of our readers said that a VZW employee went as far as to show him her screen which mentioned the date specifically

Not holding my breath. After 5 months without an update, while every Nexus S model and Galaxy Nexus model already received 4.0.4, Verizon's complete failure with this is virtually inexcusable. Since there's no update PDF on the VZW GNex Support Page, I'm inclined to believe its not going to drop tomorrow either.

Tick Tock, Tick Tock.

Been running 4.0.4 since it came out.

Yes, yes, we know rooted users have matched AOSP since the day it went live. But some of us didn't root and actually expected Verizon to support their flagship device as a flagship device.

Eh, giving T-mobile a shot for a week (14 return policy). Though, if the 4.0.4 update does get pushed tomorrow, then I may stick with Verizon as it's supposed to help improve signal quality (which sucks where I live/work).

We'll see.

It feels like the Razr is more of their flagship device the way they advertise it.

I have no doubt that they make more money per Razr sold. And not to disparage the Razr, its not a bad phone at all. Nexus is just better. This is a spat between Google and Verizon over Google Wallet.

Verizon always posts release notes like a day or two before they push an update so pretty sure this was fake.

Even though I'm already running 4.0.4 via custom rom I'm so sick of the way Verizon is handling this. They are lucky I hate AT&T and Sprint more.

Agreed. They need to take a more pragmatic approach to updates and find a way to patch the major bugs sooner, even the if it's not perfect. If it wasn't for the leaked builds and custom ROM's I would be bitching up a storm to get a different phone.

I don't see any news on when they will add ICS to the Samsung Galaxy S2 series?

Google needs to catch up to Apple on their update policy, and start enforcing same day availability of Android updates for ALL networks on their Nexus phones.

Waiting six months for the carriers to make their bloatware compatible shouldn't be an option on Google's flagship devices. Save that crap for the $49 models if you have to.

I caved and installed the 4.0.4 IMM76K leak. It is significantly smoother in all of the ICS UI navigation. Night and day difference in smoothness. I don't get why people haven't been reporting it as big a deal as it is. I've had something like 12 Android phones in the last two years and no official software update on any of them improved the stock UI smoothness by this magnitude.

Never had a problem with 4.0.2, don't remember what recovery I have, don't care if/when update appears.

If you're stock 4.0.2, you have stock recovery. Ie, next to nothing. :p

You really should care that Verizon is needlessly withholding a major bug fix update though. May not bother you now, but whose to say your next Verizon device won't suffer from a problem only to have Verizon leave you high and dry again. This behavior should not be tolerated.

I unlocked and rooted before doing anything else, so it's possible I added a custom recovery then too.

Never flashed anything though. Nova + Elixir2 is fine.

Reading these update delay threads make me glad I went with the Rezound over the GNex. I don't doubt the GNex is great but the way Verizon has handled these updates for a friggen NEXUS device is totally ridiculous. If Verizon is going to have a *NEXUS*, they should step aside and let google handle it all.

They are getting closer and closer to AOSP on the Rezound, it's only a matter of time, and HTC hasn't even released source yet for ICS. Of course, Verizon keeps pushing that back too. Big surprise.

Not only that, but it has delayed the docks as well because they don't work with 4.0.2.
