However, my comcast internet service at my house has been amazing; only 1 hour of down time in 3 years, and full power boost speeds 24/7 (I recently downloaded an 8 GB torrent in about 40 minutes). So I think I might switch to FIOS for the tv but keep the comcast for internets.
silliness.

I don't see how your comcast could ever compare to FIOS' dedicated 30Mbit down and 5Mbit up... not to mention the unique ability to use your house's existing coax as a LAN via the Verizon Actiontec router's MoCA connector and a few Motorola NIM100s from ebay. :)

Move to the backwoods of Watauga County

We may not be 'uptown' :D but we got our 'fiber to the premise' last summer.

Yee Doggies, Uncle Jed - LOL

Backwoods Watauga County is a great place ! I live close to there :)

I live a few miles past the 'Knob' and the firetower.

Skyline (the phone co-op) showed up one day and said, "Do you mind if we install fiber?"

Uhhh. No? :D

We've got over 2 miles of private roads and a dozen houses over 110 acres or so. Less than five miles from Boone but definitely Deliverance Country. No way CableCo would touch us for 20 years.

Half of us can't do satellite because the terrain is so rugged and steep. To say we are 'exceptionally pleased' would be an understatement.
