I wish Apple would made a deal with Tmobile instead of FVZW. If Apple made a deal with VZW I am leaving iPhone.

Any particular reason why? If it stays as the same phone, just on a new network, I fail to see the downside.

He obviously doesn't like Verizon which is funny cus AT&T is the worst of any of the nig networks.

I dont know much about VZW so I cant say I dont like Verizon.

honestly, i dont think any carrier will get the iphone in the USA besides att...until LTE rolls out. tmobile has oddball 3G frequencies and im not sure if apple wants to build a cdma only device..of course, anything is possible, but i believe its doubtful..

I agree. But in that case (ATT/T-Mobile) theyre both GSM, so its not aq big trouble. Going to Verizon will require a complete remanufacture on Apples part for CDMA.

LTE is 4G GSM.[/quote]

LTE will require rebuilding phones from all carriers. It's not a traditional "phone" network, it's an actual "data' network.

Funny thing, GSM 3G is WCDMA... so it's not really GSM.

Even GSM carriers know that Code Division Multiple Access is the better technology between it and TDMA.

While I admit I certainly prefer Android, I dont think those ads are clever or amusing.
Then again, I fully support Apple bashing and for that reason alone I almost let out a LOL.
Of course, knowing what we do about Apple they will probably have a super-duper iPhone 4G SX GTR next spring which does all that shit and more. They are never behind for too long.

The commercial seems geared towards those under 25 or geeks, it looks like SkyNet is coming at the end. I can see my mother getting pretty confused watching that thing.

meaning, every/mostly every carrier that sells the iphone 3G/3GS support the iphones 3G frequencies and that includes att, but tmobile doesnt for some reason. have no idea why. hence why 3G doesnt work on tmobile if you use an iphone 3G/3GS.

lol I was thinking the same thing when I saw it. I thought to myself at the end that unless one is fairly up on the cellphone wars then they might miss the point. It will be interesting to see how successful these ads are. I tend to think that most people who don't already have an iphone dont have one because they really, really dont like it. I would have thought a commercial like Verizon's would have been much better like 1 or 2 months into the introduction of the iPhone, not years after it has considerable traction and mindshare.

Agreed, but this android thing really going to be any good?

The Droid, even in its non-final form, is the most impressive phone we?ve used since the iPhone. It?s positively amazing.

Looks like the Droid will be a good choice for people who want to stick around on Verizon.

The question then becomes, how much of an exclusive is it? It's not going to do Verizon too much good if everyone else gets this come 2011.

It's CDMA for now, so it will only be on Verizon or Sprint.

If there is a GSM version upcoming, then it won't matter because it won't be usable on Verizon.

I admit it, I'm hyped.
And I havent been hyped by anything in the industry for years. I didnt give a shit about the iPhone. I didnt get into the G1 craze (although I would get a G1 later on and would be impressed). I havent actually cared that much about anything in a long time.
But this has me stoked. If they can harness the awesomeness of Android into a truly kickass phone, there would be no match. Most of the disappointment so far has been in the relatively weak hardware running Adroid. This puppy could change everything.
