so i moved into this new apartment and looked at the DSL plan they had installed. apparently its a 1.544 MBit connection. however i ran numerous bandwidth tests, all came out to no more than 768MBit.

so i called them up, they basically are like umm, on our computers we have you as 1.544. i'm like actually, i've run the tests, and these are the results! they're like ok let us check. so they do a trace on my line and it turns out i have 768!

they obviously apologize, end up doubling my bandwidth (3-5 business days, UGH).

still sad though, i've gotten used to T-1 over these past few years!!

Looks like they got away with it since you said nothing about a price break.

used cnet bandwidth testing, as well as pcpitstop. i have dumeter which monitors your bandwidth, and it was VERY obviously capped at 768- while downloading a 5MB test file it drew a solid line at 768mbit, definitely a cap.

i did ask, (well, demand.)
they say that they don't charge different for 768 and 1.5, it all depends on your neighborhood. my neighborhood allows for 1.5 connections, but they hadn't switched it after the upgrade.

We are not allowed to use the word "cap". Your bandwidth was throttled.

The CSR you dealt with is full of sh!t. I had the option of paying more for 1.5 vs. 768.

btw, does verizon DSL offer you the MSN premiere service there too?

i just started using msn 8 premiere and I LOVE it. i can't understand why ANYONE would use AOL over MSN.
