Not on stock iOS.

LTE hotspot on my Nexus is a lifesaver though.

Actually it will show on stock iOS but you have to have the hotspot functionality activated by your carrier. I know because we use it at work. Rather I should say I activate them occasionally for our construction guys. I find sprint 3g to be unusable.

Since you've got Verizon (who I use for my personal phone) you can activate a $30 unlimited tethering plan with your unlimited data. Also your current plan includes LTE data. You just may not use it. They don't distinguish between 3g/LTE data outside of throttling. 3G can be throttled but LTE is not yet.

So when you buy the phone off contract you should have no issues keeping unlimited data with a new 4g phone.

Do an alternate upgrade.

If you have a dumb phone line (basic phone w/o data), use the upgrade on that line and get it activated on it to accept the 2 year pricing. Get a new sim card and activiate on your line (which has the unlimited feature), make sure they (CS or store rep) set the device as a "customer provided device" so you wont be required to change the unlimited data plan.

Pros: Keep unlimited data plan at discount pricing ($299) or any 4G LTE Device

Cons: 1 day of prorated data charge for the dumb phone line. 2nd Sim card. They could possibly remove it in the future (but call in and qq, keep an eye on your data feature and call in ASAP if they do drop it, VZW has a 14 day window to retrieve old features like the unlimited).

You're the third person to tell me, but you gave me a more detailed response. Thank you!!

Question: 2nd sim card...
So I have the phone shipped as the dummy line, bring it to the store, and I tell them it's a customer provided one? They won't question about the sim card being for someone else?
Also, how do I ensure the data plan doesn't sit on the dummy line...

Thanks :)
