= POS

And this helps him how?

It means he shouldnt buy it

Yet the Chocolate has a memory slot.

My friend has one and it doesn't have a memory slot.

However.. he got his from ebay (non-verizon)... so maybe that's why?

Tell your friend to check again because all VX8500's have sold with memory slots (even the ones for sale on Verizon).

Is this the same as the VX8500?

no

And, I thought you said your friend bought it on Amazon?

thats pretty overpriced for a 1.3mp camera phone.

if you aren't rich, use any old 5 year old phone

or skip the cell phone for a while

My friend has one, and I thought the touch screen buttons on the front interface (on the Chocolate) were too sensitive.

But then again, I only used the phone for like two minutes.

VX8600 is coming out by the end of the month. It's a flip version of the chocolate.

Motorola K1m should be out on the 12th. It's what I'm waiting for, if for no other reason than my NE2 is coming really soon and that phone looks like it has great battery life (on paper at least). http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=1005

Get the Samsung SCH-a930 instead.

SCH-a930

Bluetooth
1.3mp camera w/flash
camcorder
Plays mp3's
Micro SD slot
Speakerphone (includes calls)
Not a Chocolate

I went to buy one. Decided I wanted it, had to have it, so i went to Verizon to go and get it.

Until I actually held it.

It seems kinda flimsy to me. the wheel dial is major sensitive and will take a while to get used to.

fingerprints show up immediately and that is a huge deal to me. It also looks like it is VERY easy to scratch it, especially the screen.

so, i decided i would wait until the next model of it... with all the minus sorted out... to be released and i will see how that is.

that k1m is very neat, i may wait for that is well. i have had some time to mess around with a chocolate of my friends, and i like it. it definantly has a learning curve with the touchpad and interface, but i'm not sure what you guys are talking about with all the drm stuff. all i would have to do is pop the microsd card into my laptop and throw a bunch of music/pics on there to look at/listen to. the thing that INFURIATES me about the phone is how difficult it is to connect a pair of headphones. first you plug a 2.5mm adaptor into the charger port, than you connect a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adaptor to that to connect a regular pair of headphones.

Well that sucks.. I got excited for a second because if the LG unlocked (non-verizon) had a memory slot I would have bought one.

The Razor from Verizon also has a memory slot. The one from Cingular doesn't (this was the case a few months ago don't know about now).

Verizon also has the Q .. :-\

You're verrrrrry confused, I'll break it down without making your head asplode.

Verizon Chocolate has a microSD slot.
The Chocolate on eBay is a GSM Chocolate, Verizon is CDMA, thus they are different phones. It does not have a microSD slot.

Cingular RAZR is a V3. The V3 is pretty much a V600 that got run over by a steam roller, thus, its feature set dates 2003. In short, it sucked the day it came out.
Verizon's RAZR is a V3c, this RAZR was made new for CDMA, new featureset, and yes, microSD. Verizon neuters the software on all their phones, if you want a V3c, go Alltel.
There is yet another RAZR, the V3i. This is a V635 that met a steamroller. It has a microSD slot, and has a 1.3 MP camera. Some also have iTunes.
And yet more RAZRs, the V3x. This phone is designed for the European market, and has absolutely nothing to do with the RAZRs mentioned above other than the name.

To make things a little more clear
US GSM Networks:
Cingular, T-Mobile
US CDMA Networks:
Verizon, Alltel, Sprint (Sprint is the only network where you can't use anothers phones)

My buddy has it.

It allows for speakerphone while listening to music but not whilte talking.

No speakerphone = automatic negative.

And it has a memory slot, I don't know what that other dude was talking about.

Motorola > LG, in reception, durability, and interface.

Verizon > *, they simply have the best service and reception.

And I can't believe some of the idiots in this thread are critisizing VZW for crippling their phones. If you had a peanut for a brain and can download a piece of software, your phone can have everything, from ringtones to skins to free internet to wallpapers to images to videos, etc. My RAZR V3c has EVERYTHING on it.

That being said, I would recommend the chocolate if you like the design and can handle the interface. If not, just wait for the KRAZR or something along the lines of that. 🙂

The V3c can be flashed to the Alltel software on VZW, it's very easy to do. I've done it on my phone and my brother's. Go to howardforums for more info on that.
