To make a long story short my Droid X has crapped out, and I am 4 months out from my upgrade. I have been looking at droid bionics on CL and they are running 200 to 250 in my area. So three questions, is the bionic an ok phone to hang on to for a few months and is 200-250 a good price? Also will verizon give me a 4g sim? Most of the ads state you can go to verizon a free sim card, is this the case.

Thanks:)

PS Is there a better phone in the 200-250 price range I should be looking at?

You might also want to check out swappa.com for used phones. You can pick up a DX for ~ $100 there, or an X2 for $160ish.

I wouldn't worry too much about 4g, but that is just me. 3G speeds where I live are around 1mbps, which is fast enough for anything I do on the phone, or even when I need to tether if my home connection is down.

I didn't think Verizon used sim cards. I thought they used activation like Sprint. Is that new?

VZW uses SIM cards in their LTE phones. You can buy one and ask a CS rep over the phone, internet, or at a store to get you a new SIM. You need a new SIM every time an LTE phone is deactivated and then activated.

Just head to a store upon getting it and you're good to go.

Is there a site I can check to see if the ESN is good before I buy, or is just meeting they seller at a verizon store the way to go?

you can call in to verizon and they will check it over the phone or if you are really worried about it just have the seller meet you at a actual verizon store and make the transaction there after they run the esn

I suggest just doing the purchase at a Verizon store. Verizon will give you a sim card for free when you activate the phone and of course make sure the phone is legit to use.

The Bionic is a great phone; really underrated. It's basically a thicker Droid Razr but in return you get a removable battery. You also exchange the rich colors of an AMOLED screen for the best outdoor use screen tech there is(A perfectly fine trade imo I really, really miss being able to see my phone outdoors that easy). The extended battery on the Bionic gives it incredibly good battery life without making it terribly thick also, I strongly recommend that.

Only 4 months? I would get a cheap Droid X as a replacement until you can use your upgrade...

Verizon will give you a free lte card. Just go into one. Also, the Bionic is not a bad phone, but I wouldn't spend more than $200 for one. I would much rather look for a Razr. They can be found in my area CL for $250. I just grabbed a Nexus off eBay for $370.

You can call Verizon with the ESN to check if it is clean. If the seller won't give you the number before buying, I would be wary & walk away. Or just meet at a Verizon to check in person.

Check out www.cowboom.com (a Best Buy site). I recently purchased a couple of HTC EVO's, rated with a "Product Grade - 6", and they arrived in flawless condition. It's hard to tell that they were used at all, and they were each ~$70 less than what people were asking for them on CL. I am absolutely thrilled with how the transaction turned out. :)

whenever I sell a phone I always meet the person at the Verizon store, wait while they get activated, it gives us both peace of mind & is well worth the time it takes to do it.
