Okay, so I've been trying to deal with the error as described in this site, but when I go into BEUtility, I cant find a database for it to repair, AND, when I try to do a repair install, it says it cant start the service while installing, and then moves on. The MDAC fix hasnt been doing anything either.

The main issue here is that the service just wont start, even if I give it administrator login info for it to have whatever access it wants, it just wont do it.

running a Dell Poweredge 2800 server.

Thanks

Is SQL Server running on the system? Was Back Exec told to use SQL, instead of the MSDE instance it comes with?

I did not have the same error messages as you, but I kept having the services stop and then not want to start, and the only way I fixed it was to completely unistall Back Exec and reinstall it. Which is quite a nuisance since B.E. needs reboots for everything you do to it.

Okay, fixed now.

The problem was that the service was trying to log onto the local machine with my admin login info instead of the domain like I assumed it was trying to do, so after changing that, the service then had access to the dependant services
