Anyone use this product ?

I'm trying to use the open file option and it doesn't seem to work well... ie if I have a file open and make changes to it, it's suppose to backup the file with the changes that's not committed.. unless i'm wrong..

Server FILESVR Setup
C: - W2K
D: - Data files, Share EXCEL directory as EXCEL

so you can access it as \\FILESVR\EXCEL\filename.xls

Now in backup exec, you can backup d:\excel or \\fileserver\excel

which is the preferred ? There should be no difference right ?

The manual isn't detail and tech support cost a lot of money.. please let me know thanks..

i've used backup exec on NT & personally i wouldn't trust that "backup files while open" option as far as i could throw it. i've never had much luck(on any platform) trying to backup files while they're open. if at all possible, it's best to run backup during an off-time, or at least when system activity is at a minimum. you're right on how that option works. if you're backing up across a network, the \\filesvr\excel\... path would be better; if you're running backup on the local machine, it wouldn't make any difference. but all this is coming from someone who is really picky about backups :)

Yeah, it's a pos...

man, the amount of trouble.. it's a 24hour operation so file stays open.. almost never close unless for rebooting... sucks.. i been using this for like 2 years.. and tech support is a rip...
