I currently have Cable broadband with COX, when they did the "install" all they did was put a wire to my house to activate service. I then hooked up the cable modem where I wanted it along with the router and then set the network up the way I wanted it. No moron from Cox Communications touched any of my computers(no one touches my computers.)

What exactly do the morons from Version do when they come out to set up FIOS? There is no way I'm giving them any access to my computer or router.

They don't need to touch your computer. They will run a wire to the house from the street. Then they will come a day or 2 later and do the actual install. They will put a new box outside the house (about 12in x 12in) where the cable comes in. Then they will install another box inside (basement for me) and run the line for the internet. They gave me a free wireless router and the only touching of my comp the tech did was to hook up the cable.

They will run all new wire in your house if you request it and set up the set-top boxes for each TV.

And thats about it. You do need to access the internet one time for activation and to make sure it works, but the tech should have his own laptop to do that with.

Overall it was a very professional install. No hassles and no problems.
