Verions Wireless users... Get It Now Question

So, I just got the new every two deal with Verizon and I got the LG VX6000 this morning and I am loving the phone so far.

My question is: I was going to go on the Get it Now thing and see what's on there (yeah, I know it's a ripoff, but I am at work and bored). My question is, while I am looking at the get it now stuff, does it use my minutes on the phone or what? My old phone was so crappy that I never had to worry about it before!

Thanks!
Jeff

Get it now is the stupid thing they do where you can download ringtones (for $1-$2 I think) and games (for like $5)... I don't know when they started it, but my old phone was just under 2 years old and it didn't have Get It Now, so I guess it is somewhat new

Yep, it uses minutes

Yes, it does use minutes, and it's the only major carrier in the industry to do so. When you're big, you can do whatever you want, like give people the least amount of minutes for the money and such. Enjoy!

Wow that sucks. I messed around on there for a minute, but don't plan on doing that anymore, especially now that I found out it is $1.99 per freakin ringtone! What a rip 🙁

naah, its been around for quite sometime now. i remember buying the motorola 720 about 2 years ago (october 2002) and get it now was around then, but i think that's when it barely started because the games list back then was pretty small.

I think most verizon plans have free in network calling --- which would inlude get it now. at least it does in my case as far as i'm aware.

yes it does. luckily, you have an easily modifiable phone. there are programs and cables available to you to add ringers, wallpapers, and i believe games also to your phone.

That's the tradeoff. Absolutely flawless service, remarkable reception, and expensive extras(WE) vs. horrendous service, horrible reception, and a ton of free extras (WE)

WE= with exception

Yeah goosemaster, I hear that... Aside from the get it now garbage, I love verizon and wouldn't think about changing. In fact, my 2 year contract was up today and I just signed another 2 years. I don't see any reason that I would want to leave them in the next 2 years.

anxi80 - The mod-ability of this phone is one of the reasons I got it. I have heard you can fiddle with it and get tones/etc without having to go through get it now... Any advice on how to do it? I orederd a real USB cable from eBay this afternoon, so hopefully that will get me started 😉

Is it really possible to add games to your phone, so far I haven't found any ways to add games to my v710 other than buying them through GIN.

I'm assuimg that with the transflash card that the possibilites of getting free games on the v710 would be greater but it may take some time and work.

I'm also waiting for a supposed November firmware update that allows for bt OBEX, that would be a great feature to have.
