This is a Z-wave controller for DIY smarthome installations.

picked this up earlier this week for the same price. seen it on slickdeals and received it on friday. turned it on, and got one water sensor finally communicating with it. Not familiar with zwave and to say the least, it was not simple to get going. Not sure what happened to get it communicating, but it seems to be texting when the sensor gets wet.

This seems to be the new price for this, as Vera has a new product coming out soon. Just so I'm clear, this can work independently, unlike the wink controller.

correct me if I am wrong, but this can actually be used without setting up an online account?

what would be the expected range inside? (z-wave is supposed to be 330 feet outside, right?, unless you use extenders)

[I know I can google all this info, but I am hoping that somebody who actually uses one here, can answers more accurately].
