Ventrillo/TeamSpeak

Hey guys, I am having a problem here....Three of my friends and I want a simple server to chat over while playing games. THe only problem is I can not seem to set up a server. I am behind a DSL modem, and so are they. I joined a VENT channel on WoW and the sound was very clear, but on the public teamspeak servers everything sounds muffled and not as clear.

Basically what I am wondering is there a way to do what I did with teamspeak on vent, and we all join a public server and create our own private channel? Or does anyone know how to help me set up either of the two for a server? Can I just run a server locally off my comp or laptop? Or do I need my own webspace?

Any info would be greatly appreciated...I am getting frustrated.

You can run it off your comp if you enable the port or you can run it off another server that gives you command line access so you can install stuff (not cheap). Or you could pay $5 a month for a 10 person server.

Just d/l the teamspeak server application. From teamspeak.org. And make sure you set it to speedex 25.something. And it will sound almost the same as vent. Personally I like the sound of TS better than Vent.

I already pay 20 bucks a month just to play the game as a college student... I would prefer to be able to set something up if at all possible. Can I do the channel thing with skype?

How many people do you want in the channel?

There are only 3 of us in total. Maybe 4 at a time if another friend ever buys the game.

Skype is FREE and allows up to 5 people to conference call at one time. Skype's call clarity is 100x better than TS or Vent.
