Venting, this week is beginning quite poorly

My wife left for 2 weeks vacation saturday morning with the girls, my in-laws were in through Sunday morning, so my house got trashed, I got no sleep and I get to clean up everything.

My wife was supposed to arrange with her siblings who was going to care for the dog because I'll be going out of town at the end of this week for a week. Well her sister who originally was going to take care of the dog, is reluctant to do so now because my dog isn't fixed (The vet wants to wait til he's a year), and hers is in heat...

On top of all this, Saturday afternoon my 19 year old brother-in-law whom I've known since he was eleven told us he got his 20 year old girlfriend of 8 months pregnant.
What's really stressful is I love the kid, and I know how much hell it's going to be. I got my wife pregnant when she was 20 and I was 22, there's a lot of unresolved resentments and anxiety this is stirring up...

Last but not least I just got off the phone with the owner of my company. I've been here 6.5 years and just got my first reprimand. A year ago they converted to online hour entry with worknotes detailing what you've done day by day. I suck ass and haven't been entering my hours in a timely manner. I always have to play catchup and HR has to send me e-mails reminding me to do it. I know, my bad, and I said so to the guy. I've set an Outlook reminder for Wednesday's and set aside an hour to enter hours for each week. It sucks because previous to the online system my group used our own system to enter very detailed info about our projects. We're not allowed to use that which I do maintain, we have to enter the info in both. meh.

Weak cliffs
- House trashed, family left me to clean up
- Have to figure out WTF I'm going to do with the dog
- Brother inlaw gets girl preggers and it's freaking me out
- Got reprimanded for the first time in 6 years.

My advice to you is to start drinking, heavily.
:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:

I brew my own. I've been drinking straight through and it's not helping anymore :(

That's most definitely a stressful situation.

You know what I find hard to deal with? When all the probs just ficking come all at once. I can deal with a Major Catastrophie. Or two. But when they all seem to hit at once, I feel like I'm driving down a two lane highway thru a mountain pass and the walls are quickly closing in and there's a steady stream of 18-wheelers in the oncoming lane. :Q

Allow me to comment, please>

1. Sucks that the family trashed the house. Ya'just gotta deal. Clean YOUR house. At least it's yours.
2. If worse comes to worse, leave a ton of food on the patio and the garden hose on a slow trickle; fido will survive
3. Your BIL and his happy dikc are not your problem. Just make sure your wife doesn't invite them to live w/YOU!
4. Work situations change, unfortunately. Play the game; you've no other choice...until you find something better and f ucking quit...which you can't do ATM b/c you're very busy. Play the game.

good luck

Thanks man, that's good accurate advice, and exactly the issue. I'm just a little bit under the landslide and have to claw my way out. It's funny, typing this just now I thought, "Hey maybe I'll go catch a movie tonight that would be a treat" then I thought about how isolating it is to go to a movie by yourself, and then I remembered that I always used to go with my Dad who died of cancer late last year, just reminds me how much I miss him and wish I could talk to him about these things. He would always bust my chops and put things in perspective.

RIP Dad, you're missed.

By the way, that first reprimand wouldn't be "spending too much time in those online forums, would it?"
:p

HTH. :) Go catch a flick by yourself. Buy the Giagantor Fattor Popcorn and eat it all. You're already in charge of yourself. Time to boss yourself around a little.

Could be worse. You could have been the one who knocked the girl up. That would have made things really interesting! :p

Stay strong and vent on here

It is a mofo when stuff like this happens all at once.

Follow MichaelD's advice.

Do you have the 'hotels for dogs' or something like that? We have one that isn't posh. Just a place where you can leave your dog and they'll feed it and stuff for a week or so. Not sure on costs but thats an alternative.

Keep in mind dude, it's all relative. You could be out of a job, you could be a 40 yr old virgin, you could have had a flood in your house. I'm not saying that you are not suffering a bit, but trust me, things will pick up in a few weeks or months.

PS, I would be careful to fix things with your boss if you like that job.

Damn, feel much better. Ran double what I normally do, hit the weights hard, came home walked the dog 2 miles and ran him some, and am about to take a shower before heading out to X-men

yeah, I agree it's pretty weak.

It could be worse. You could have lost your job. Your wife could be cheating on you, etc.

Be happy you've got dogs to take care of. Be happy you've got a home to keep clean. Be happy you have a wife and kids. And think of how excited they'll be when they see you after 2 weeks. :p (Think positive)

You got some pretty good advice in this thread.

The only part I have a problem with is about your house being trashed. The only solution is to throw a party. Then it really will be trashed. You are a man. It's your job.
