I've been listening to all 5 of the Foo's albums lately, trying to figure out why they just haven't sounded the same since "One by One" came out. It's got to be this latest guitarist. He was in a punk cover band before joining the Foo's. That's about as low as you can get in my opinion. Not only do you not need talent to play punk, he also just played other peoples' songs.

More and more I'm realizing that it must have been Pat Smear that really carried the band back on "The Colour and the Shape" (that and Dave was still on drums where he belongs).

You realize the first Foo Fighters CD was done entirely by Dave. He played ever instrument.
 
TCATS was awesome. Everything since their 3rd album is complete garbage and even that one wasn't very good.
