I was at a barbecue on Sunday where one of the guys brought some venison to cook. There were some cold leftovers, so I tried a bite and it was good, and the generous hunter offered to drop me off a steak (he even told me how to prepare it in the oven.)
So today I ate it and OMG this stuff is good! I have no idea which cut I had but it was tender like filet mignon, but a LOT less fatty. I loved the texture, it was buttery-smooth and almost literally melted in my mouth!
The craziest thing though--this deer was killed before Thanksgiving! He only gets a week to hunt but he usually gets him enough to last him up until summer. I am completely ignorant when it comes to hunting, but he said unless he has a nuisance permit he only gets one week to hunt
I'm thinking of buying him some ammo or something in hopes he gets me more next chance he gets!
