Venice Overclocking problems

When I try overclocking my cpu to 2.43 ghz (270 fsb, 9x multi, 1.42 vcore, 166 memory divider, and 4x htt multiplier) I can boot into windows and use it perfectly. However, when I go to play Call of Duty 2, the game will run for maybe a couple of seconds with some graphical corruption and flickering then it freezes with the sound still playing. Then my computer gets an "nv4_disp" BSOD that says "0x000000EA (0x860D2678, 0x8615A670, 0xF78B2CB4, 0x00000001)" I'm using 81.94 video card drivers and 6.70 chipset drivers. I know it isnt a heat problem since my processor is idling at around 30c when overclocked. The system in question is listed below:

Athlon 64 3000 venice revision E (week 17)
DFI lanparty UT ultra-d
1024 mb (2 512 sticks) of OCZ performance series ram @ 2.5, 3, 3, 6
evga 7800gt
480 watt Antec Neopower PSU

that looks like it could be a memory problem.. or possibly you could have increased the clock of the AGP slot .. which can cause problems if it isnt locked

Thanks, I'll try upping the vdimm or something. Also, the 7800gt only comes in pci-e and Im 100% positive that the pci-e bus is locked. 2 of my friends have this board/ proc and one of them is running at 2.7, but he has an ATi card.

Edit: It still does it, I get the same lockup/bsod I did before. I also tested my other games and they produced pretty much the same results (graphical glitches). I also gave rthdribl a try and it did lock up windows for a bit, but it would then keep going after a few seconds. This would happen over and over again every couple of seconds.

I ran 4 tests of prime95 (I really dont have time to run it for like 3 hours) and it came up with no errors. I know this isnt a memory problem as this memory worked flawlessly in my 754 system at the exact same speed. I've even lowered the divider a bit more but still got the exact same problems. I really think this is my video card drivers since only 3d applications lock up.

Increase the voltage on your RAM, I had that exact error before I slowly increased it until it worked properly.

ALso I get alot of DirectX 9.0c errors with any 81.9x while playing COD2(great game) series drivers for my 6800 GT, rolling back to the 81.85's fixed that.

I tried running my ram at 2.8 volts already but that didnt solve the problem. I'm willing to go to about 3 volts total, im not into frying my ram. Also, why would my ram require so much voltage here when it only needed the stock 2.6 volts to acheive the exact same overclock on my old 754 system?
PS. I checked my psu in everest and it says the 12 volt is running at 11.78, could that be causing it?

Update: out of morbid curiosity I lowered my htt to 2x and my ram divider to 100. I no longer experience errors, hitching, or graphical glitches. I'll tweak it a bit more later today to narrow down the problem.

Like GML3G0 said, your HTT speed is out of spec. Lower it to x3 and you should be fine. You need to be below 1000. Read this how to properly overclock :

That guide helped me to get my Venice 3000+ to 300 x 9.

The HTT was a mistake actually, I forgot I was on 939 and lowered it just a step which is what I would do on my 754 system (4x to 3x) and didnt notice it was out of whack until you guys pointed it out. Anyway, I have narrowed the problem down to my ram. For reasons beyond my comprehension, the exact same ram I used in my 754 system that I am using in my 939 system will refuse to OC to it speeds I know its capable of. On my 754 I had it at 166 ram divider with the timings 2.5, 3, 3, 6 ; 2.6 volts (stock) with the fsb @ 270mhz and it was fine. Now on my 939 these things just cant run above stock . I am currently running @ 300 mhz fsb with an 8x multi and a 133 memory divider so the memory is running at stock speeds with no lockups or anything. p5freak I've been at overclocking for a while now (I like to tweak things way too much ) and have read pretty much every guide there is on ocing, except for the one you showed me. I should probably give it a looking over anyway since I fail to post @ 300 x9, thanks.

The DFI board is very picky with some RAM, but I've never heard of it having problems with OCZ Performance RAM. Well, glad you figured out what the problem is!

I am using Geil Value Ram, no problems, with the same DFI lanparty UT ultra-d. Mem Divider is at 133 and timings are 2,5-4-4-8. I know its not the fastest, but im not into superfast Ram.

I'm going to try overclocking my friends rig (same motherboard, but with corsair xms) and see if they will take the ocing better. Maybe if hes in a good mood, he'll let me try them in my rig. Thanks for your help everyone.
