venice or winchester for amd 64 3000+?

it all depends sort of. sometimes the winnie is better, sometimes the venice. i think if you go venice, youll have a better chance at getting a good overclock.

well, there isnt much of a difference, except you can run ddr400 with 4 sticks of ram and it has SSE3 instructions (which doesnt make any real difference with most apps) the venice has a very good reputation for overclocking, better than the winchester, even tho it is really impressive too. i would go for the venice, newer is better usualy. also, the price is relitively the same.

Venice is better SSE3, cache improvements, higher clocks.

I think it's worth $20 more.. what's the price differential?

WinChesters were great, but Venice is even better, since the venice is only $8 more it is a no brainer, go with the Venice.

PS - I hope my Winchester chip does not read this as he has/is serving me well 🙂 !!!!!

So seems to be the case. All the more reason to go Venice if you're overclocking. If not, it's just $8.
