Venice 3800+ in action

Any idea how much these chips would cost? And how much would it affect the prices of the current winchesters?

Couple of things that peak my interest...

1) he hasn't stability tested anything though 2.8ghz at 1.41v did superpi 16mb so it likely isn't too far off...

2) this was given to him from a friend at AMD so it may have been handpicked...definitely want to seem some others have similar results...

3) 2.8ghz to 2.945ghz went fast for giving it over .14v more...since 2.945ghz wouldn't do superpi 1mb at 1.54v it may need 1.57-1.58v if nmot more...That seems like 145mhz took .2v...obviously tails off quick....leakage issues still???

I would bet that these hit a wall just like the winnies do. For example, my 3200+ will do 2.7 on stock voltage (prime small ftt 12hours stable). I need 1.55 to run at 2.8 prime stable and cannot go any higher even using 1.8v.

I agree which make me think there shoudln't be a wall...I though the SS/SOI was to help the leakage and thus we realy shouldn't have happen what jbh129 is stating....

The 3ghz on some of the FX55 cores have been more water and phase cooling so that may not say much until we see what this guy can do with phase cooling....

Some guy hit 3ghz on phase with an original athlon64 3400+ 1mb cache (clawhammer C0 core)... That would be one screaming chip...

AMD must be messing with the process, they might wait till there ready to make a 3 Ghz 4400+ part or more likely 4600+ to "switch" stuff on the production lines.

Yeah, thats not so promising right now. I've seen several FX55's peak 3ghz, and it just doesn't make sense that a core with SS AND SOI can't do it with ease. Mabye it was more of a dud proc than a hand picked one...

A nice overclock. If I have the money when they are released, I'll purchase two (one for me, one for lady's rig) and give them a whirl.

They (AMD) said there would be 3000+,3200+, and 3500+ as well...

Other things I find interesting.....

1) clockgen at 3.0ghz seems to be syaing he has 1.45v set, yet corecenter and cpu_z say 1.55-1.568v.....

2) Notice his cpu fan speed is 5118rpm...damn that has to be load...my TT venus 12 does 5500rpm and it is ahirdryer at that speed...3400rpm is all I need to keep my cpu at 32c at my current speed....

It may be an Clockgen NF4 thing? I get the same results with my A8N-SLI and Winchester
Clockgen 1.45v = CPUZ/AI booster 1.57-1.58 which is the same as 1.55v(max) setting in bios(1004). The earlier bios's had max upto 1.65 but the results were the same 1.57-1.58.

Clockgen seems to low. But the others seem high?

I'll be away fishing the first week of April🙁

Seems he got past 3Ghz on stock air since this thread ended thats around ~4735Mhz P4 territory.

My advice is to Definity buy at least the 3200 for it's 10X multi or you may have serious issues maxing out chip with only 9x found in 3000.. I hate the idea of having to buy and spend xtra premium on mid-range label, but the way these are showing clocks may have to in order to get full procesor potential and not be limited by low HTT speeds from chipset or mem controller.
