We can only hope that Chavez is toast -- the sooner the better. He's just about the worst thing to happen to the people of Venezuela (South America in fact) since the conquistadors.

Once that scum dies (hopefully soon) the country can try to move on and try to recover from the socialist utopia disaster he's created. Maybe they can even have a semblance of a free press again.

I know you're from the area, do the people actually like him, or are they fooled/don't have access to information like in N Korea?

This is horrible. Chavez is a hero to the people, bringing them a shared prosperity they've never known. Whatever will they do without their robin hood who steals from the rich, keeps it for himself, and laughs at the poor, all the while telling them they are sharing in prosperity.
