For many years Hugo Chavez has been a royal Pain in the neck for the US. But now he is in Cuba seeking medical attention, and may have advanced Prostrate Cancer at the relative young age of 56.

Already the Chavez opposition minority is calling for him allow his VP to replace him while hospitalized. And while Chavez is still politically popular and was planning on running for a third term in 2012, a Chavez end of power may be in sight due to medical reasons. Which may cause enormous political uncertainty in the region. With unknowable future implications.

As a matter of fact, Chaves tries to cozy up with Obama, but Obama keeps his distance from Chavez.

As for that big special smile Obama is showing, like all politicians, its just standard equipment.

Obama's a soft-fascist, while Chavez is a communist, other than his silencing of the press.

Chavez may or may not die soon, but he certainly is an idiot (mainly because he thinks the World Bank and IMF are laissez-faire institutions).

Obama's a soft-fascist

:hmm:

Fascists advocate the creation of a totalitarian single-party state that seeks the mass mobilization of a nation through indoctrination, physical education, and family policy including eugenics. Fascists seek to purge forces, ideas, and systems deemed to be the cause of decadence and degeneration and produce their nation's rebirth based on commitment to the national community based on organic unity where individuals are bound together by suprapersonal connections of ancestry, culture, and blood. Fascists believe that a nation requires strong leadership, singular collective identity, and the will and ability to commit violence and wage war in order to keep the nation strong. Fascist governments forbid and suppress opposition to the state.

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

Really? You're seriously mistaken if you don't think that Obama suppresses opposition to the state, if you don't think that he supports massive executive power, and if you don't think that he wages war to keep the American state and big business strong.

He may hate everyone and he may not be pro-eugenics, but he still fits the definition of a soft-fascist quite well. His economic policies are a lot closer to those of Nazi Germany than to those of Joseph Stalin. He doesn't support public ownership of all means of production in any way. He supports cartelization of industry through extreme regulations, leaving profits nominally in private hands even if the businesses are really owned by the government.

Name me one president that hasn't?

And you're gonna pick and choose?

How about this..

.

Show me where any president has tried to mobilize the nation thru indoctrination, or even instututed polices of eugenics?

Who cares?

Both he and his country are of no great importance.

Chavez may be a grade A rat fink, or a people's populist hero depending on viewpoint, or one can just dismiss Chevez with little guys don't matter.

But, Venezuela is a rather important country because it has large reserves of oil.

We can only hope that Chavez is toast -- the sooner the better. He's just about the worst thing to happen to the people of Venezuela (South America in fact) since the conquistadors.

Once that scum dies (hopefully soon) the country can try to move on and try to recover from the socialist utopia disaster he's created. Maybe they can even have a semblance of a free press again.

Also I'm a little puzzled as to what prostrate cancer is. Is that a cancer you get from laying flat on your belly? Not to mention a "relative young age". That's an age that's young for a cousin or something? And what's with the capitalization of "Pain"? Did sandorski hack your account?

...and we have more energy recourses in North America than all of the Middle East. Venezuela is still a small insignificant country.

Most Presidents have tried to suppress opposition to the State, but few have done so more than Obama.

Just because there are some fascist policies he doesn't advocate, doesn't make him anywhere close to 100% non-fascist. FDR was more fascist than most, it doesn't matter if he somewhat non-fascist, he was still at least 40% fascist. Obama's at least 40% fascist.

I call shenanigans. I'm pro-fascist and anti-Obama. Obama is not a fascist. Or if he is, he's doing a really shit job of it.
