Vehicle Inspections (for pollution)

Newer cars don't need to be checked as often because they are...well, new. Most pollution is caused by engines not running correctly. New cars have a much lower chance of this, so they don't need to be checked as often.

I bought a new 2005 model year vehicle in last July and never got it inspected because of that one sentence . . . Never bothered to check with the DMV. Guess I'll know when I bring it in next month for inspection.

Here in GA it says if you have a 2003 or newer then you don't need an inspection.

They really need to just do away with the whole inspection process, doesn't do shyte, and you can go to the auto parts store and buy an additive that will make it pass for just a couple of bucks.

I was glad when they got rid of it in FL and now that I'm a GA resident I am reminded how much of a waste of time and money it is.

According to this site: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.ncdot.org/dmv/vehicle_services/emissioninspection/requirements.html">http://www.ncdot.org/dmv/vehic...s/emissioninspection/requirements.html</a>

"The exemptions from these requirements include current-year model vehicles, diesel-powered vehicles and motorcycles." What do you think the above statement means? A current-year model does NOT need an inspection?

um dealers get an emissions check when the recieve the car... they are good for 1 year... so yes current year models dont need inspection...
