I've always eaten canned because that's what my Mom used to use to make meals and so I just did the same. Maybe I should switch to frozen if they're better?

What is the cost difference between them?

but if not fresh, then frozen, except for tomatoes

frozen is often fresher than fresh.

unpossible

Fresh is fresh. If its in the fresh section and it isn't fresh, then its rotten, not fresh. True fresh always > frozen.

not exactly. some things are harvested and frozen pretty quickly. fresh stuff can take time to get to the store, considering transit.

I eat a ton of canned green beans. Easier to buy smaller servings in the can for me or something. Frozen is like a 2-3 person commitment, or entire meal. I snack on them. Maybe I need to look harder and eat others... but damn I like me some french cut green beans.

So open a bag of frozen, pour out as much as you want, use a twist-tie to close the bag back up, stick it back in the freezer till you need it again...

I pref fresh as mainly what I eat are brussel sprouts, asparagus, letuce and corn. On the corn I actually preffer canned sweet corn as it takes too damned long to prep fresh corn and I can sit down with a bowl of sweetcorn from a can within 3 minutes and chow away :)

Fresh is the only way to go for everything else IMHO but frozen does do less damage to the veggies flavour than canned not to mention there is the lack of additives in frozen foods that abbound in canned.

I eat veggies with every dinner. I can't remember the last time I bought veggies in a can, if ever.
Always frozen or fresh. Frozen is nice because I can use the exact amount I want, and then put the rest back in the freezer.

Yeah, not sure if you're aware of this thing they invented a long time ago called "TupperWare", allows us canny people to save our precious veggies for use at a later date @_@

well no kidding Mr California :p
but the choice was between canned and frozen.

and btw, why does it cost more to buy California strawberries in the supermarkets in California than what I can get the same California strawberries for in New York? it's puzzling...

probably b/c you were in the supermarkets? a block away, I can buy 5 pounds of pomegranates for $1. The fruit and veggie prices near me are astronomically cheaper than I have seen anywhere else in the country.

right. i was in a supermarket in CA and then back home in NY, and was surprised to note that the fresh fruits & veggies were cheaper here than where they are grown.

we all can get cheap local produce at farmer's markets, but i find it odd that when something is grown right in your backyard that supermarkets charge more for it there than nationally.

I drive about a mile down the road and buy fresh strawberries from one of the multitude of strawberry fields/growers in my area. This year, $7.00 for 6 quarts of fresh red berry goodness.

I hate frozen vegetables. Then again, I hate fresh vegetables. Canned tastes much better. But all vegetables suck. I usually just eat meat.
