Vegetarians

Ok my question is why is it ok for you vegetarians to only kill and eat plants, but why is it wrong for us carnivores to eat meat? both are living things.

plants can't experience pain afaik... I don't know if you can call animals sentient or self-aware but I'm sure plants are farther from it than animals

note: I"m not vegetarian

Why do you generalize vegetarians as against killing animals for food? Some people are vegetarians for health reasons and others just prefer non meat foods.

Most of the people I know who are vegetarians are from India, and their justification typically has to do with a mixture of religious beliefs and the concept that eating animals that were once alive is wrong and/or disgusting.

Im not a vegetarian but according to my christian beliefs there are certain animals im not supposed to eat and they are listed in my bible...ill name like 2 (pork, lobster)...anyway ppl have their own reasons (pity for animals, religion, culture, or maybe for some odd reason they do notlike the taste of any meat(rarely)) I guess it all depends on the situation...Zz..sleepy now ><

I just recently began to read the bible so im not too sure about everything in it so far.

The answer is very simple: anything with legs and eyes can be anthropomorphized by any slack-jawed dimwit. You can't really do that with plants. Hence, we have vegetarians.

there are health issues that force one to become a vegan? eh?
no such thing.... humans are better off as omnivores... LOOK AT OUR TEETH! 😀 becoming an herbivore is a very unintelligent lifestyle if you ask me, important natural nutrients are in those animals and are being missed (yes in the things with legs that walk around before we butcher them for food...).

Personally not a vegetarian but my father is one and a fairly strict one. Not a vegan but no fish or red meat of any kind. He's not a proselytizing vegetarian though, would never tell anyone that they are doing something wrong. My question is what bothers others about vegetarians?

I never said anything about vegans, but some people avoid certain foods for health reasons, like avoiding red meat to lower colon cancer rates. I dont see why people have a problem with other people just because they do not eat meat.

Maybe because most of them are Hindu and they believe that people are reborn into animals?

My sis didn't eat much meat because she didn't like the flavor, gradually eating less and less. Now eating meat makes her sick - her body just isn't geared to process it well anymore.
