any ATOT'er Vegas/foodie experts?

just curious if there are any specific places I should really try to target while I'm there (looking for a mix of romantic dinners with my BF plus places good for a group since I'm going with 5 other friends)

Budget?

Alize is always referred to as one of the best places in Vegas. N9NE is good if you like steak.

my favorite place i've eaten there was ramsey's steakhouse. best meal i've ever had. went there with 9 people for my wife's birthday and we all thought it was such a fantastic experience.

i wouldnt recommend delmonico steak in the venitian. overpriced and simply was just not that good for a steakhouse.

ramsey's burgr is also great for lunch.

the fish tacos at the boulevard pool at the cosmo are also really fucking good if you are just chilling there and want to eat.

desired cuisine + budget?

Romantic dinner = try Picaso at the Bellagio. Cheapest of the former 2* michelin joints at around $130 for the tasting and one of the best environments I've been in - you're basically in a "cellar" loaded with Picassos and the Bellagio fountains going off right outside the window.

no specific budget... coming from NYC, so $40-60 entrees won't exactly induce sticker shock.

I'll probably be looking to do two really upscale dinners (one with my BF, and one with the whole group of us) and keeping it relatively casual the rest of the nights.

Awesome spot plus it's tucked away a bit.

I've been impressed with the two Wolfgang Puck restaurants I've tried too, Cut and Lupo.

EDIT: Where are you staying?

we're staying at the Palazzo... going to be just my BF and I for 2 days, then on the third day a group of friends will be joining us in Vegas for the last 2 days of the trip.

(we're all leaving NYC on the same day, but my friends are flying out to Arizona to do a road trip from Phoenix to Vegas, whereas my BF and I are just flying straight there)

if you're staying at the Palazzo you must go to Bouchon for brunch.

Screw Brunch. Dinner. Spent 130 bucks per person there last time I went. Worth every single cent.

There's tooo many hot restaurants out there, and besides if the OP wanted dinner from one of Keller's restaurants he could just go to Per Se ^_^

on a side note, is it worth packing a suit to wear out to dinner?

you wouldn't look out of place either way. if you got the space and enjoy rocking the suit I'd do it.

Not really. Even the more expensive (100-200 bucks) is mostly casual dress. Polo and jeans fit in just fine.

I guess when you're hitting the 500 dollar places you can wear a suit.

IMO wearing a suit around in Vegas just feels awesome. Whether it is the club, dinner, or just gambling you'll see many people dressing their best.

makes sense... I know in NY there are restaurants I wouldn't go to without wearing a suit, wasn't sure if it'd be similar in Vegas given that it's more of a tourist-y location.

As long as you aren't going to Robuchon I think you'd be fine without it - just a matter of personal preference.

Much like AA99 above, I prefer dressing up vs down in Vegas

Since there have already been a listing of great on strip, formal dining locales, I'll throw out a couple of slightly off-strip, casual restaurants for you to consider.

Monta Ramen - Great little ramen restaurant with great broth and probably the most tender pork belly I've ever had.

Bachi Burger - Not as fancy as the burger restaurants on the strip like Ramsay's BGR, but the burgers tend to be more unique (as many are Asian fusion burgers) and are quite spectacular. I would rate it the second best burger I've had after a place in DC called Ray's Hell Burger. I have some pics and a more in depth review of the food at http://www.vacario.us/m/JfTcMO2Rsh?a=DfPvhcnIJ5 if you want more info.

With regards to Bouchon, it was a super miss for me the few times I went. I don't know if the kitchen was just having off days when I went, but I left each time quite disappointed (along with the people in my party). I felt Mon Ami Gabi, which feels more casual than Bouchon, had an overall better experience for the trendy brunch restaurants.

One last recommendation for an on strip casual restaurant. Brooklyn Bowl is part of the new outdoor shopping / restaurant area called The Linq in between Flamingo Hotel and Harrahs (it's also where the giant ferris wheel is). I've only been to this restaurant once and as commercial as it looks from the outside, it provided one of the best fried chicken brunches I've had since moving back from DC. I personally had the fried chicken paired with their baked pancake. Until that day, I had never had a baked pancake before but I am now forever sold on it because it was probably one of the best pancakes I've ever had. I have a more in depth review of the restaurant with some pics at http://www.vacario.us/m/DaFjBSy1kA?a=DfPvhcnIJ5, if you're interested.

Hopefully the suggestions will help and have a great time in Vegas.

I live there and my personal favorite place for fancy food is Mesa Grill. All the other recommendations have been good too. Bouchon is amazing, I had the best chicken I've ever had there.

I've eaten at a bunch of the fanciest places in town, a lot of the time it was during Restuarant Week where its much cheaper. Even Robuchon. It was a great experience. They had this "first bite" thing, a spoon of deliciousness...I'm sure some of you are familiar with it...amouse bouche or something like that, its called. Anyways it was crazy good.

Robuchon, or L'atelier? I would be really surprised to hear Robuchon participating in RW O_O
