Vegas Question

I will be going to a conf at Mandalay Bay and need a hotel. The company likes to keep it around $100 or less. You can go over, but only if none are at this price. Unfortunately, the Tropicana and Excalibur are under $100 and within reasonable walking distance. Of these two, which should I chose?

I think there's a tram that runs straight from the Excalibur to the Mandalay. I'm not very familiar with the Tropicana.

Both are pretty yucky. Consider that the Excalibur is "kid friendly" so the rooms are crap. About the only nice thing is the tram that goes directly to Mandy Bay on very hot days. I would take Luxor before I'd go to Excalibur or Tropicana. Does the conference offer discounts at any hotels? I think a reasonable amount over would be worth it, ask your boss, all he/she can say is no, right?

go stay at excalibur. their's a tram that runs directly to mandalay bay. granted the convention center will be on the opposite side of where the tram gets off but better than nothing.

Plus at night after your wasted tons of money and you're hammered. the midway games are 10x better.

Plus check out mandalay bay's website for the 119 promo. some dates are only 99 bucks.

for 100 bucks Mandalay bay is so much better than other hotels.

Actually I had him set on the Luxor until he saw the rates at Tropicana and Excalibur. I am going to push for the Luxor. It is only like $15 more a night than Excalibur.

Excaliber is kid friendly and routinely offers insane double occupancy prices. I'd imagine the rooms aren't very nice. The tropicana was nice when it was built...in the 60's. It's one of the oldest hotels on the strip. Push for the Luxor.

I'd pay the difference out of pocket if necessary. Excalibur = Motel 6 style rooms

Yea the environment is horrible too. Dark inside and filled with smoke. I vote to stay at the Luxor. Even closer to the Bay, but I don't think the tram runs through Luxor? Bottom line is it's pretty damn nice that you won't have to deal with the yuck of Excalibur.

The tram was originally from Excalibur to Luxor, so I'm pretty sure it still stops there.

I think there are actually 2 trams. One runs straight from the Excalibur to the Mandalay. The other stops at the Luxor on the way to the Mandalay.

Ah. I haven't been on the tram since before Mandalay opened (I don't go to the Strip that often 😱) -- that sounds right.

With your hotel choices, it doesn't really matter bedroom/service wise.

Excalibur has a better location with the convenient tram.

Between the two - excalibur. Gamble/hang out at Mandalay or Luxor. From the Excalibur you don't even need to go outdoors to walk between the three casinos.
