Strange. On my machine, the video plays fine with windows media player and Gom. It says "image example" from the opening to the end. In VLC, it is black until just before second 2. I wonder which player is "correct". What player are you using?

Does the same thing happen when you render it as windows media or something else?
I'd guess it is the render settings, or the player you are using.

Well, I don't know anything about Vegas, but if you need to render a still image in video, what if you created a small AviSynth script to make a short video of an image. Then just embed the AviSynth script, which Vegas should treat as a video.

Or you could probably make an actual video of several copies of the image with VirtualDub, encoded as raw or HuffYUV or some other lossless compression format. This seems harder to me, but maybe not to you?

This turned out to be a significantly larger problem than I initially thought.

I don't recall changing the settings much since I got them where I want them. But after first set or 2, everything I've rendered since, has been out of sync with the same issue. Estimated to have affected possibly at least 100 videos. Not cool.
Now, it doesn't matter what all I play with at this point, but EVERYTHING I render out as .avi is out of sync.

I came from using AVS Video Editor nearly exclusively for most of the past year. Shit program, but for the most part, default .avi settings output what I need them to, without sync issues.
Was trying to get those same AVS .avi settings on point in Vegas, but that has been clearly eluding me.

Despite having .wmv audio settings at best, the output degrades audio quality noticeably, so I am avoiding that.
I was able to get .mov right after playing with settings for a bit. Since it's just an image & FPS isn't important, at first I tried to set FPS settings to lowest possible in both project & render, but then it'd render whatever the fuck it wanted to. Brought them both up to 25 fps & they are just what I need, without sync issues.

I might have to play with seeing how I can get .mov settings just right, I suppose.
Biggest issues I've been fighting with since I began learning the program a few weeks ago. While trying to maintain quality as much as possible. I'm aiming to get the videos within a certain range when it comes to time it takes to render & file size. Keeps see-sawing between both extremes. 900mb for a 10mb video. Or 4 hours to render a 10 minute video. Both are fairly excessive.
For the most part, AVS would generally output within range of 700mb or less, and generally no more than hour & half for a video less than 20 minutes for all 1280x720 videos. All 720x480 would never exceed an hour.

This has been a headache, at best. Every time I think I have settings on point, something else is broke. I know soon as I have everything exactly where I want it, I'll be all good, but until then...

Seems it was how default video source properties were set to resample. Have been disabling resample since realizing I forgot playing with those settings & the out of sync issue has disappeared.
Still a mess getting all other settings on point though.
