Yesterday was NUTS! My mom just moved to town yesterday, bought a house right where the storm was the worst. She called me right when the rain started and I left to go see her house, big mistake. The roads were fine when I left my place since it had just started, by the time I went 2 miles it was a disaster (I had to drive ~5 miles to her place). At that point I was sure I could not get home so I had to keep going to her house.
I had to take side roads, back streets, parking lots, oncoming lanes (shallower water or trees were in my lane :Q ). Luckily I was in my expedition and I know the area really well, but others were not so lucky.
If you look at the picture HERE you can see what I am talking about. Her new house is in the purple area (2.5" of rain fell there in less than an hour) and I live near the end of the word "Summerlin" that is on the pic.
My mom lives in Henderson (suburb to the south of LV), and she gave me a call yesterday. She mentioned that she had pea-sized hail fall in her area. She also mentioned there was some golf ball-sized hail falling elsewhere.
