Vegan cheese?

Most "fake" cheeses aren't vegan -- they contain milk derivatives but are OK for the lactose-intolerant crowd. Anybody know where to find good vegan cheeses? My local health food store ("Karrot") doesn't have any.

Ugh.. I'd insert a snide comment here, but someone else will come along and crap on this thread.

Just going vegan for a while -- no plans to do it forever! (been veggie for many, many years)

Get some St Andre Triple Creme (cow's milk). It goes really good with a Pinot Noir. Oddly enough, the triple creme is similar to a brie, but is 75% fat...this sounds much worse than it is because of the amount of liquid involved in the mix. It's EXTREMELY good with red wines and many whites....

Give up the vegan cheese. Nothing good can come of it except you're supporting an industry that's growing due to yuppies and hippies. If farmers didn't milk cows, their little udders would pop. Eating cheese made from them and drinking milk is really doing them a favor.
