Hello, I have a few questions.

I have an opportunity to purchase a HP Vectra VL420 at an aggressive price. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with these machines. I am most concerned with: How does an Intel chip run with PC2100 RAM? Is the mobo scalable to RAMBUS? (It does not say in the Spec on the HP site). Also, can you upgrade graphics cards without problems? Here are the specs as I know them.

Processor - P4 2.0GHz, 400Mhz FSB, 512 Cache
Chipset - 845 (Northwood)
Memory - 512MB NECC PC2100-DDR
Hard Drive - 80 GB ATA
Graphics - 32MB Nvidea GE-Force-2-MX
Connectivity - 10/100
Optical Drive - DVD - 16X READ ONLY

Thanks in advance.

There is not a big difference between RAMBUS and DDR. The 845 chipset is one of the best for the P4 DDR combo (only dual channel DDRs are better).
You cannot upgrade this motherboard to run with RAMBUS, but that is unnessecary anyway.

video card upgrades should be no problem since it looks as if HP is using the AGP slot, all you would have to do is put in a new card and install drivers for it (and possibly not even that if you got another Nvidia card)
