Hey there, ATOTers...

Is anyone of you guys connected via VDSL?

When will we be able to use this technology?

Here is some info about it: Link

BTW, I did a search on the forums and found nothing...

im in tokyo, live in a highrise building, pretty new...

they only have one internet option in the buliding and that is VDSL, and its at the full 52mbps speed... ive done some speed checks and i regularly get 30-40mbps on it...
16mbps for upload

pretty sweet

you can also get (but not in my building) FTTH (fibre to the home) where you have a dedicated fibre line poking right through the basement wall of your house (in japan, primarily in the suburbs of Tokyo/Yokohama and Osaka) its a bit pricy, around 100 a month, but you do actually get pure 100mbit connection straight to the CO.

doesnt help too much though if you all you do is surf north american or eurpean sites. But we have two 100mbit fibre lines at work, and i can pull down servicec packs from microsoft at around 2 megs a second, thats mega BYTES per second :)

Its not adsl that is slowing us down, its the stupid cap that is making our connection so slow. I believe that most would be seeing much higher speed like me 8mb/1mb cause I am so close to the CO. but just to get 6mbit/384k higher cap will cost me 60 bucks more, oh well. not to mention most stuff I download using p2p or http never exceed even 10kb/sec! thats sad.
