I take it you don't have a multimeter or access to one? If you use two applications you get two different readings, I think a multimeter would solve the question of what the voltage is doing exactly. I suppose even if AB is inaccurate it may still portray the 'droop' correctly even if the actual amount is off(?)

Well I ran a couple of benchmarks and it appears I have some vdroop. Looking at HWInfo and GPU-Z I am seeing some conflicting numbers. Here take a look.

GPUz shows 1.166~ for me at 1256mv while bit mining

If that's correct what you're showing, I get about 20mv more voltage than you for 81mv more applied.

Nice card btw!

Thanks! Keep in mind I don't have a stock HSF. Maybe most 7950's experience a little vdroop?

BTW can you game @ 1250 on the core? I see you ran 3DMark @ 1250. If so, how are your temps.

as I said Balla - gpu-z is terrible at reporting properly - check with a couple other programs and then volt meter :) only truely way to know :D

As I said are you unstable?

MSI with

VDDC_CHL8228_VIDReadback =0
MVDDC_CHL8228_VIDReadback =0

1.12~ for 1.2 set = 80mv vdroop - zug zug

Only way to fix it is to solder on the card :(

Have you bothered checking voltage with a multimeter, like has been suggested?

I'd have done it first thing if I had one, and I'd have checked wattage if I had a killawatt :(

The only real downside here is that I have less voltage to play with than the 1.3v allowed, certainly not complaining about a chip using 1.12v @ 1150MHz while mining if that's how it's coming off!

It's worth checking with a digital multimeter. Why would you need a killawatt? Those things (DMM) cost like 8-10 bucks. I know afterburner absolutely does not give correct voltage readouts for my MSI lightning 680s - what is reported in afterburner is lower than actual voltage used. That could be because afterburner does some neat voltage offset software trickery with the lightnings, I don't know what the deal is. But in any case, software voltage isn't always accurate.

I haven't used 79xx in a long time but I don't recall vDroop at load ever happening. I could be wrong though, did they change that with the GE?

You can get a decent multimeter for about $25. Kill a Watt usually goes on sale for $20 shipped at Newegg.

I don't know Blackened, Afterburner, GPU - Z, and my meter all match up with my 7970 Lightnings. I don't know what's up with Balla's card, but can't really be sure without a meter. Balla, get on it ;)
