VCR use with digital cable?

Cable company is really eager to get me to switch from analog to digital. I've checked their programming and I'd get about the same stations for the same price, including rent of the digital tuner. My only question is about using my vcr to still record some shows. A Google search implies it's still possible but the steps to do this look quite complex.

Anyone doing it?

Here's my television set.

Check the cable box that you will be using.
I have digital cable and the cable box has vcr recording settings in it.
So you can set the day/time and the box will switch to that channel.
Granted its one of the older cable boxes, so I'm not sure if the newer boxes consider people still use a vcr.

You might want to see if your cable company has any dvr boxes.
Usually you can get one for about 5-10.00 a month and makes recording so much easier/better than a vcr.
