VCR repair Question

I have this problem, when i put in a cassette, it just comes out, it doesn't stay in. I've tried cleaning everything w/ rubbing alcohol /Q-tip but no improvement. I think if i take it to a repair shop it'll be around $60. I bought this in 1999, it's a sony and i really don't want to buy a new one, i'll like to repair it myself if it's not too much trouble. I already have a dvd player but would like a vcr since i have a lot of videos. Thanks

remember all those late-night ads for vocational schools? one of the things they always mentioned was VCR repair, and i always remember thinking, "oh yeah right, there must be a HUGE demand for that! not!" boy was i ever right. dental assistents, on the other hand...
