Vcore Wire Pin Trick for AthlonXP cpu?

I've heard about some "wire trick" where you use a wire on the socket of a socket A motherboard to increase vcore voltage to the cpu. Is this something bad for the motherboard and how well does it work? Thanks.

You can but in all honesty its easier to do the bridges, the wire trick is a pain to do.
