Vcore reporting

My bios and cpu-z are reporting different numbers for my vcore. the BIOS gives me 1.664 volt, which is about right becuase i set it to 1.675, but the cpu-z is giving me readings that fluctuate between 1.475 and 1.55 volt.

Which should i believe? And what is a safe vcore for an A64 3000+ clawhammer mobile (rated for 1.5V)?

yeah, thats ok. dont go any higher than that. CPU-Z isnt always very good are reporting volts. thats not what the program is for. try another program, there should be one that came with your mobo. what brand is it?

Funny, you just told me in my thread that 1.67 volts would kill my processor in a year. :disgust:

Here you say it is ok. So wihich is it?
 
I use the "ASUS probe" that came with my mobo (ASUS K8N) to give me all the BIOS readings.

The processor still uses the 130 nm technology, which i heard somewhere (don't remember where) can handle a higher vcore than the newer 90nm cores. If that is the case, can it handle more than 1.67 v?
 
1.65 is as far as I would go, on air at least. I would set it even lower if you are using the stock heatsink. Secondly, CPU-Z is reporting the correct voltage. A64 voltage fluctuates, the voltage in the bios being the highest it will reach. Under low load, the vcore can a bit lower than what you set in the bios. Let speedfan or mbm monitor your voltage while you are gaming. You will find that the voltage does indeed hit what you set it at in the bios.

The OP has a clawhammer which is 1.5 volts stock and the Venice chip is 1.4 volts stock so 1.67 volts on a clawhammer is pretty ok but on a Venice without water cooling is dangerous.
 
And why is it dangerous without water cooling? As long as you have safe temps (under 60c under full load) why does it matter what type of cooling you have? I have air cooling that gets 50c under load. Are you saying that if I went to water cooling and dropped a few C it would be ok to run at a higher voltage?

Sorry don't mean to hijack OP's thread. But I would like to know why everyone thinks higher volts is ok with water cooling. But yet at the same time say that temps don't matter.
