VCore question

Hey all,

I'm a noob when it comes to OCing but I have done my homework so I do have a decent idea of what I'm doing. Anyway, I have an e6600 on an Asus P5B-E that is running at 3.2ghz dual prime stable with max load temps of 55C (coretemp). I have Vcore set to 1.475 in the bios which reads as 1.42 idle and ~1.39 load (CPU-Z and Speedfan). From what I've read this undervolting is normal with this and other similar boards.

Should I consider my vcore to be 1.42? When I see people posting the Vcore for their OC would that be their actual Vcore?

the asus boards do something call droop under load. it's something all asus boards have been doing since... i have no idea

people usually report the voltage they set in bios.

with your e6600, i'm sure you can easily hit 3.2 with less than 1.475. have you tried 1.45 or 1.4 even?

I did try it at 1.45 and got an error after 8 hours and 20 minutes using orthos (small FFT's). Strange that it took that long to report an error, I'm gonna let it run overnight again at 1.45 and see what happens. If it took that long to get an error I'm sure it's stable for my purposes.

The only thing I can't seem to find a definite answer on is what the FSB Termination Voltage should be set to (I left it on auto). I wonder if this could be the problem, I'll try the FSB termination at 1.3 and see if I can lower the CPU Vcore. The P5B-E doesn't let you adjust the NB, SB, and ICH chipset voltages, though from the reviews I've seen it still OC's quite well.
