vcore adjustment on videocards

biostud

Lifer
Is a bios flash needed or can it be done by software alone?
As far as I've googled ATi cards can be done by software while nvidia needs a biosflash, is that correct and does it apply to r6xx based cards as well?

Is there anyone who have any experience, and is it worth it?
Since I use watercooling temperatures shouldn't be a problem.

I'm just wondering if this should be taken into consideration when choosing between G92 or rv670, as I would really like not to flash my videocard bios. Or should I just opt for the fastest with stock vcore?

It depends on the video card. Some ATI card let you do it in overclocking software. Some Nvidia cards can go higher with a bios flash, but not many. A volt mod is the only sure way.
