Well, the Napa MP3 that he's talking about does play VCDs considering it was made in either Hong Kong or Taiwan.
Here in Australasia region, VCDs are very popular whereas in the States, DVDs are predominant.
I thought VCDs were illegal, but I've been here in Manila for roughly almost 3 weeks now and there are 2 types of VCDs being sold here. Legal and the the most popular illegal ones.
The Legal ones that I've seen are made here in the Philippines and are distributed from the 3 Tower Records stores that are here w/c sell for roughly 425 Ph. pesos w/c is roughly $10 US.
The illegally-made ones are either made in the Philippines or are smuggled-in from other parts of the Australasia region (ie. Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan). Those go for roughly 40 Ph. pesos w/c is roughly $1 US.
Major home entertainment manufacturers here (w/c include Acer, Pioneer, and even Sony) sell players w/c can play MP3-burned CDRs, VCDs, and even local region DVDs.
