What is the file format that dvd players require VCD to be in. Is it *.dat or is it *.mpg. I am looking thru vcdhelp.com with no luck. Anybody know?

Thanks.

Have you converted any mpg to .dat files? If you have, what did you use to do it?

ever use Nero? just choose the option to Burn a Video CD, and all you have to do is drag the mpeg's over and itll check to see if it's in the corect format... then it will burn it as a .dat with all the vcd files necessary

really, it's that simple? how big of a mpg will fit on a 80min cdr? I'll have to get nero if its that easy.

<< You can fit approximately an 800mb mpg(80 min playing time) onto the cd >>

I was dead sure that an 80 minute CD can hold 700 MB of data.

They're not exactly the same thing, but your computer will recognize either.

Yes, but a VideoCD is like an AudioCD, so 80 minutes will fit on it. (which in standard VCD format, is equal to 800MB) Of course, that's for the standard bitrate of 1150kbps for video and 224kbps for audio, if you change those, then it'll vary...

Um, it goes by time, not mb's. I have fitted 892 mb's onto 80 minute cdr's. I read the formula somewhere, but alsa, I don't remember.
