Anyone know where I can find a redistributable stand alone installer for VC# 2008? The closest thing I found was an ISO for the whole VS suite but it was in some weird format that VMware could not read. In fact even WinISO could not read it. There was a readme file along the lines of it using some format that's not standard or something like that and that it only works in certain cdrom drives. That's M$ for you.

I hate web installers because not only do they use lot of bandwidth when doing multiple installs, but nothing guarantees that the data will be the same from install to install, or even available in say, 5 years from now. I want all my installs to be stand alone so I can archive them.

What in the world are you talking about. MSDN has all of visual studio and they are in standard dvd iso format.

When I opened it in winISO I just saw a readme file saying the data cannot be displayed. Then in VMware I got an error that it could not open it (as if it was corrupted) but it seems to have opened it anyway after a 2nd try. So that seems to work now, just can't open with winiso which is non issue for my case as I only need it to work in vmware.
