VC for 1920 x 1080

Hey Folks,
I recently purchased a 37" widescreen LCD for my PC. I want to run all games that will support it at native resolution (1920 x 1080) with the eye candy. I would also like to output HD movies once HD-DVD or Blu-Ray players become a viable option. My question is, do I need to go for the x1900xtx to achieve my goals or can you recommend a more cost friendly alternative. I probably won't have money to upgrade my card again for another year. Let me know your opinions. Please support them with reasons as well if ya can spare the time.

Thanks,

That probably would be a good choice for 1920x1080 gaming (or the XT which should be at least $50 cheaper but not that much slower). You should be aware though that no one's quite sure how HDCP is going to play out with current hardware - there's no guarantee that you will be able to use any PC you build today to output protected/restricted blu-ray/HDDVD content once the drives arrive.
