VBAT error? Fan error? Does it matter?

Hi, everyone. This is my first topic on this forum. I recently build a system for
myself (CPU, MB, RAM, Video card... detail in my signature). I OC my
Sempron 3000+ from 1.6G to 2.4G . The system can pass memory test without
error. The CPU's temp. is ranged from 31(idle) to 46(100% utilize).

I installed the MB's (BioStar tForce 6100AM2) bundle software which monitors'
fan speed, CPU's temp and voltage, chip's temp, CMOS battery's voltage (VBAT)
. It keeps posting error on VBAT (overflow/underflow) as the CPU's running at
full speed. Also, a couple of errors on CPU's fan (can't sync.).

Does the VBAT problem matter? How can I sort the problem?
On the 2nd thought, I doubt the bundle software is setting fraud altert. I'll
appreciate any comment. Thanks.

[My OC set up]

***CPU part***
set FSB to 300, multiplier to 3, raise CPU's voltage
from 1.35 to 1.45v

***Memory part***
set DRAM voltage from 1.85v to 1.90v (1.85v is the MB's min, the RAM module is default 1.80 v).
set DRAM frequency to DDR 400 (option: 400/533/667/800/Auto)
set DRAM latency 4-4-4-12

Post a screenshot. Vbat is your battery voltage. Is it reading below 3.0v? What are all of your voltages reading?

The following information is copied from CMOS's system health

CPU Vcore [1.42 to 1.44V]
NB Voltage [1.16 to 1.18V]
+3.3V [3.31 V]
+5.0V [5.05 to 5.08V]
+12.0V [11.52 to 11.58V]
VDIMM [1.88V]
HT Voltage [1.22V]
5V(SB) [4.91V]
Voltage Battery [3.00 to 3.02V]
CPU Temp [43 to 44 C]

I just found out that I misreading BioStar's hardware monitor. The
error was from VCORE (CPU) rather than my VBAT (the pop up only
says error). I only increase VCORE by 0.1 V (from 1.35 to 1.45 v).
Does that mean I need to increase VCORE even more?

No, it's warning you that your vcore isn't at stock voltage. Just turn that warning off. However, that's way too low on your 12v rail. You should look into a better power supply, or at least test it with a digital multimeter.

uh...digital multimeter? I don't even know how to use it.
I'm sorry for knowing nothing about PSU. Would you please tell me
how does 12V affect the system? By the way, my screen blank out
for a sec whenever I try to access display setting (before apply any
change). Same thing happens when I click on nVidia's video control
panel icon. Is this a symptom of insufficient 12V?

I guess I'll need to find another power supply. I know many PSU
manufacturers' lie on their products' spec, but I have little knowledge
on selecting PSU. Could you please make a suggestion?

My Cooler Maxtor PSU's spec.
Maximum Power Max: 400W (Continuous), Peak: 430W
Output +3.3V@25A, +5V@32A, +12V@19A, -12V@0.8A, +5VSB@2.0A

By the way, I tried to raise VCORE from 1.35 to 1.475 v, the warning is
off. I ran Super PI 32MB cycle without a single warning. Since you point
out the warning can be ignored, I'll just ignore it. I guess 1.45v is ok though.

Yeah, I'd definitely replace that psu. To test with a digital multimeter is really, really easy. Just turn the system on, with the side panel removed, and grab a molex connector (like the one that provides power to your DVD-RW, but use a spare one), stick the leads of the multimeter in carefully, and touch one of the outer posts, and either of the inner posts. If it reads ~5v, then that was the wrong side, the 12v will be on the other side. If it's below ~11.8v, it needs to be replaced.

I read through the power supply thread under "general hardware". Finally, I got some ideas for choosing a suitable PSU. If I've not read it, I'd probably bought the Ultra V-Series 400W PSU Free after $25 rebate. Although it has a strong 12V rail (20A), I'd like to leave room for upgrade.

Thanks, myocardia.

I'd recommend 28A or more on the 12v rail, if choosing a single 12v railed psu.
