So there are about 50 different TV shows on this subject right now, but i was wondering if anyone had real life experience with one of these? What's it like? Apparently gentle giant moving down the street from me is having a 50+ vault auction next month. Are the chances of you getting garbage basically 99-99.9%?

Just go to estate auctions. You're more likely to get something worth money then those stupid storage units.

Friend of a friend does it. Says it used to be a great way to score stuff for cheap and oftentimes make a profit (as depicted in most of those shows). But since all those shows have started, attendance at the auctions has gone up like 1000% so it's much harder to be competitive and score any deals. I'm sure it'll all blow over in six months or so.

I used to go a lot. until those fucking TV shows made people think you are going to strike it rich doing it.

most do it by the box. EVERY now and then you buy the whole thing (even sight unseen).

most of the time its junk but i would put stuff that might be worth something on ebay and i would always make a profit.

now? fuck idiots buy everything for more then its worth.
