Reverse vasectomies cost ~$10k in US, ~$5k in Canada. (Ey, wuts all that aboot?)

Assumption 1: You are 20 years old.

Assumption 2: You could lock down your sperm in maximum security for the next X years.

Assumption 3: These are the success rates.

Years Between Vasectomy.....................Sperm Return.............Pregnancy Rate
Under 3 years...........................................97%.............................76%
3-8 years.................................................88%..............................53%
9-14 years...............................................79%..............................44%
Greater than 15 years...............................71%..............................30%

Would you do it? That is, get clipped, have all the wild sex you want (rubber still there for the STDs, less you have a girl who tests clean, but still bitch might cheat, so rubber 4 life), and then get the reverse done when you are ready to have kids?

Or are you too scared to get it done? Too worried about the possible "no chance of pregnancy"? Anything more than 3 years reduces your potency by almost 50%, so how much wild sex do you really need?

no way in hell I'd do it just to get it reversed later. i'll go with the BC method that doesn't involve cutting the boys open twice.

Get clipped and still have to wear a rubber? Then go back and have it done again? That sounds like ring around the fail boat.

I just need to find a decent doctor locally, then the boys are done. No need to reverse anything, I've got four monsters running around already.

$10k? Ouch. I was thinking of getting one of these after getting married this fall. But I never thought it would cost $10k. That is too rich for me. Are normal vasectomies comparable in price?

I think I had a crappy urologist when I had my vasectomy done. Knowing how much that shit hurt the first time around, I would never, ever have a reverse done.

But I didn't vote as I already have 3 kids.

After paying almost $12 grand a year for day care, a vasectomy seems like a bargain!

But, a couple hundred dollars a year for other methods (such as pills) seems even more like a bargain.

Kids? Scarring relations? Seeds illegitimized in fields all over the country?

Details please.

I divorced my ex wife 4 years ago, and got a vasectomy about the same time. It was easy, relatively painless, and cheap.

I don't think I would do it *planning* to get it reversed - but that's your decision.

The lack of stress for me and my g/f is amazing - not having to worry about an accidental pregnancy, and she doesn't have to take BC.

I have kids - am over 40 - so the LAST thing I need is another ankle-biter.

yeah i know the reversals are pricey, but i the vasectomy is outpatient and just a few hundred bucks or something right? that and a couple bags of frozen peas...

do NOT FORGET the forzen peas.

worst part (besides jumping off the curb) was it itched like crazy from the healing and hair growing back.

there is nothing to it. well besides the jerking off into the cup and having the nurse ask if you have any problems doing it..

I'm not sure how much it cost, my health insurance (Aetna) covered it. All I had to pay was the $10.00 copay for the pain meds, that I never took.

I bought the peas - but they gave me 2 hot/cold packs - that's all I needed. Got it done on St. Patty's day A Friday), and was back to work Monday.

Much better than a root canal, and as I said, not having the stress of possible pregnancy is priceless to me.

No, vasectomies are far cheaper than the reversal process. It has always been easier to destroy than to create.

Much cheaper for the insurance company than having them cover the birth of your children.
