USB 3 is backwards compatable with USB 2, ie. a USB 2 drive will work in a USB 3 port (but not vice-versa).

Should have said Super Speed USB 3 is not backward compatible with USB 2.0

Was talking about A end. Plug in a 3.0 usb stick into a 2.0 port it will still work, just tops out at 2.0 speed. Power output is lower on 2.0 as well, max 500mA vs 900mA on usb 3.0.

Always get hub with power supply.

Except that some newer USB 3.1 and USB 3.2 devices have Micxro-B or Type-C connectors and some have the standard USB 1.0/USB 2.0 connectors.
