Ok.. here's the deal: I just set up a computer with a new motherboard and chip: Athlon 1.33, + A-Bit KT7A. Windows XP Pro installs Ok, and seems to run except for a couple problems:
When you first boot up, click control panel, and open 'System', the computer just stalls for about 40 sec! Mind you - it's not locked up (you can still open stuff in the start menu, etc...) but it just doesn't show the system settings for a Looooong time.
Likewise, you also get the same delay when trying to open IExplorer - it just won't start dialing out for about 40 sec, but yet it's not frozen, just delays, and then starts dialing.
When you do either of these things one time, and then try to open them again, there's no delay. The stalling only happens after the first boot.
I think there's some hardware that it's trying to detect for 40 seconds, gives up and then continues... I dunno... I'm really stumped on this one, and it's really pissing me off...
I've updated the drivers etc.. but it still doesn't fix it. I'm wondering if it also has something to do with IExplorer crashing after 5 min no matter what!..
