I replaced an old DVD-ROM with a new LiteOn SHM-165H6S. I notice that the Vdd is exhibiting wider variations in value with the new burner.

Vdd is usually in the range 1.55 to 1.60. With the new burner Vdd sometimes drops down to 1.48.

The values of Vdd are those reported in the Phoenix BIOS when the machine boots. I do not have a software-based monitor installed so I don't know what values are reported when the machine is running normally.

My setup:
Epox 8RDA+ Rev 2.x
Athlon MP 1200 CPU
1 x 512MB PC2700 DDR
3 x IDE drives (1 Seagate 160GB, 1 Western Digital 80GB, 1 Western Digital 60GB)
LineOn SHM-165H6S burner
2 x 120mm case fans
ThermalTake Volcano 6cu+ heatsink and fan
Power supply: Antec PP-303XP 300 watt

I plan to add another 512MB RAM to this machine in the next few weeks. In addition I want to upgrade the processor to an Athlon XP 2200+ (Thornton-based) processor shortly.

Is this a serious problem?
