HI Guys.

I have never used any form of watercooling or extreme cooling at all. I am looking at getting Vapochill kit for my P4 3.2EE. I am looking at 4Ghz+ speeds.

Can you tell me is Vapochill ..Worth the upgrade, and is it very difficult to installl??

Will i need to mod the board in anyway..IC7 MAX-3??

Is this the best option?? Can you suggest others, that will give the same results..!!

cheers

What applications are you running that require that kind of speed? Are you OCing for bragging rights & benchmark scores?

Hi.

I am really just looking at ultimate perfromance for my current system.

Yes i am interested in seeing how far i can push my CPU. However its for my benefit only, and benchmarks are a good test of perfromance.

For me, spending $850-$900 just on cooling would not be worth the $$ on a 3.2EE.
Sell your 3.2EE, IC7 and RAM... Buy a 560 (3.4GHz), a good 925 MB, video card and DDR2.

If you want Master-Blaster status, you need to leave the AGP/DDR world behind. Thinking... "SCSI" wouldn't hurt either.
Obviously, if you were thinking about sinking over $800 on cooling... cash isn't a problem for you. ;)

BTW, A huge bang for your current system buck, would be to water cool your CPU/AGP/Northbridge.
No matter what, you'll probably need better memory than that 3500 to hit 4GHz.

Yes, i am going to get better RAM, i am thinking OCZ PC4000 Gold Edition or PC3700 EB , 2 Gigs ..

Long story short, for the money vapochill isn't worth it. The chip maxes out before vapochill would come in normally.

What do you think he would use in place of AGP/DDR. PCI-E isn't good enough YET to upgrade to. I dont know of any alternatives to DDR.

Also if you are thinking of getting that kind of cooling your going to need to do some volt mods to achieve the extreme speeds. I put a vote in for crucial ballistix memory. I agree SCSI would really boost your system.

Dont listen to LifeStealer, he doesnt have a clue as to what hes talking about.

You dont always have to mod the mobo do get extreme speeds. I had a 3.0c@4gig with a Mach II. Usually vmods are done to try and run memory at LL.

To answer the poster, the price/performance ratio is not good when you go to extreme cooling, but it sure is fun. Its not really hard, just make sure to know what you're doing before hand. I downloaded the manual and read it serveral times, and read several reviews before I attempted to install it.

You might squeeze out an extra 300-400Mhz. Remember, you *might*. You have to make that decision if its worth the cash for you.

Are you saying you couldn't get that on air or water?

Right.. *might* for that much money I better, although even if you do what are you going to get out of it? A few extra points in benchmarks? At what point do I not know what I'm talking about? Its not worth it, you'd get more performance out of your system by using the money for other things.

Nice job on your case btw.

Doubtful. You can debate on if phase change is worth the money, but the colder you run the processor the faster it will be able to run no matter if you spike the voltage or not(you shouldn't push the voltage too much no matter what of course). The difference between 127F and 118F isn't likely to make much of a difference at all, but the difference between 118F and 29F certainly does.

No, on water all I could do is 3.75. I gained 250Mhz going Mach II. Worth it? Not really, but I didnt have a good chip either. I had one of the first 3.0c's, with a date of early May 2003. There are some that do that on air now.

You dont know what you're talking about because you said, "The chip maxes out before vapochill would come in normally." That is simply not true. Try to find someone who went from air, to subzero cooling that didnt get more Mhz out of it.

Thanks, those are old pics, Im finished now. Its a dual loop system, just havent updated the pics yet. :/

its extreme money for extreme performance. whether thats worth it to u ..its personal. best bang for buck comes at far far lower speeds, mid low end. speed to dollar ratio gets worse the higher you go of course, no getting around it.
