Vantec Tornado question

Anubis

No Lifer
i have a 80mm tornado but im curious about something
the 80mm and 92mm fans are rated as seen below

TD8034H 80mm 0.75A 5700RPM 84 CFM 70.4 dB
TD9238H 92mm 1.00A 4800RPM 119 CFM 70.1 dB

the 92mm fan is pushing almost 25 CFM more at a slower RPM but making the same amount of noise

now im curious, is there a way to determin what speed you woudl have to run the 92mm tornado at to make it create the same 84 CFM that the 80mm fan moves? because if would be running slower then 4800 RPMs and most likely would be quiter but still push more then enough air to keep anything cool

anyone else thought about this or am i just way out there today?

If you want to determine the speed at which they cool equally well, put the 80mm Tornagod on the heatsink and note the temps. Then put the 92mm Tornado on the heatsink and undervolt it untill you get the same temps.
And why, if you are concerned about noise, do you use a Tornado? 😉

im not concerned about noise i was just thinkin about it last night

my noise tolerence is so different then most peoples because i dont think the tornado is that loud, I have the 80mm on my heat sink, sleep in the same room as the comp, its not 10 feet away,

my old comp that was running 3x 120mm sunons that make 45dBA and a 60mm delta screamer as well as a 80mm tornado was kinda loud, but it kept that 1700+ @ 2GHz cool

Well even if you did get the exact 84CFM out of the 92MM the performance wouldn't be identical, sine the static pressure from the 92mm would be less then the 80mm. I think all Tornados are made by Sunon so you could try to find a sunon that pushes 84CFM (or close) and just drop yours to that speed.
